Sprint has announced their first EVDO Rev A Card! Now Available!Last week Sprint Certified the first EVDO USB Modem, now this week we have the first EVDO Rev A PCMCIA card. EVDO Rev A will provide a big boost in speeds over the current EVDO:
The Merlin™ M720 is the first commercially available dual band EV-DO Revision AGPS Capable PC card available to the market. Continuing its innovation and leadership position, Novatel Wireless has moved aggressively to meet the needs of operators who are deploying the EV-DO Rev A networks. The Merlin M720 EV-DO Rev A PC Card provides high-speed connectivity to networks with data speeds up to 3.1 Mbps. It has an advanced dual band diversity antenna system design that incorporates an external flip antenna, maximizing data speed performance and allowing for stronger network signal reception. The EVDO Rev A card is backwards compatible with the existing EVDO Rev 0 network and you will NOT get faster speeds. However, when Sprint starts implementing the EVDO Rev A Network, your card will be ready for faster speeds (no need to buy a new card). EVDO Rev A will also have much lower latency and will be able to handle VOIP. The card is $99.99 with a 2-yr Sprint contract, and 174.99 with a 1-yr Sprint contract. It is backwards-compatible with EVDO, meaning that if there is no Rev A in your area the card will still work on the EVDO (or 1xRTT) network. ![]() ![]() Key Features:
