According to Unstrung.com, Verizon is planning to offer VOIP over Cellular. They are waiting on their EV-DO Revision A upgrade to be in place, before offering these services. After this upgrade, Verizon expects the peak rate to be 1.8 Mbit/s. We have already demonstrated that VOIP over EVDO works. The interesting news, in this article, is that Verizon is expecting to double their EVDO coverage by the end of 2005. The other interesting fact, is that Verizon was originally pitching EVDO as download speed of 300 kbit/s to 400 kbit/s. Now they are saying they can expect an average of 400 - 600 kbit/s. |
