Help, EVDO is SLOW, or what is 1xRTT and EVDO |

So, you just got a new EVDO card, you installed the correct software, inserted the card and you discovered internet access is slow, much slower than you were expecting. The question is, are you in an EVDO coverage area? If you are not, your super fast EVDO card drops down to what is called a 1xRTT connection, which is MUCH slower than EVDO. We started a City by City 1xRTT Coverage Breakdown. If you look where the signal bars are, it will say EVDO or 1xRTT. If you are in a 1xRTT (slower), you will get performance that is 2x - 3x dialup speed, but that depends on the number of signal bars you are getting. A 1xRTT connection will get around 60 - 90K, an EVDO connection will get an average of 300K - 500K, a turbo charged card will get 700K-1000K. Depending on your location, how close you are to the towers, how busy things are, your physical location, you may get much better speeds (or yes, even at times, slower). In this example, we are in a 1xRTT coverage area, NOT EVDO. Go here and check your zip code (or zip codes for the places you will be using it): You want to see BroadBandAccess in your area. BroadbandAccess = EVDO = Fast NationalAccess = 1xRTT = Slow A booster antenna MAY help, but only if:
