The other problem that this tip solves, if you are directly between a 1xRTT and EVDO tower. Your EVDO signal MAY bounce back and forth between 1xRTT and EVDO and make it difficult to maintain a reliable connection. Symptoms: Flashing BroadbandAccess and then back to NationalAccess and back and forth. ![]() Requirements:
Here are the steps to follow: 1. Use Mobile Connection Manager v2.5 2. Press the HELP button. 3. double RIGHT mouse click on the icon at the top left of the page. 4. Notice at the bottom of the dialog box, a new submit box showed up. 5. Enter ##DEBUG 6. Notice a Engineering Menu pops up. 7. Go to the Test Mode tab. 8. Enable Test Mode and select HDR Only. 9. Click on Update Test Mode 10. Enter password of 000000 (that is 6 zeros). 11. Click OK, you are done. If you get No Service on your MCM window, that indicates that you are NOT in a EVDO area. To revert back to bother EVDO and 1xRTT, go to the Engineering screen and disable the Test Mode and then follow steps 9 - 11. This tip may be a reason to actually purchase an PC 5220 card instead of others. If you already have another card, you can usually pick up a used PC 5220 card from eBay. Just make sure that the card is a P8A card. Also, you can easily switch back and forth between 2 EVDO cards. Finally, you do not need an account with Verizon to do the sniffing. We had a spare PC 5220 card in our briefcase, just for sniffing whenever we are in a new area. Question: How can I get this to work with a Novatel V620 or Kyocera KPC 650? Answer: You cannot - it only works with a PC 5220. Discuss this tip on EVDO forums. We offer three EVDO web sites. EVDOInfo.com offers the latest EVDO news, tips, coverage and awesome EVDO information. EVDOforums.com is the #1 community discussion forums for EVDO users. Both of these web sites are free for all to use. The third web site, is our sales site. Booster-Antenna.com allows you to purchase booster antennas and Verizon EVDO cards and phones. To help support our sites, consider purchasing your EVDO items directly from us. Not only will we save you some money compared to purchasing directly from Verizon, but we REALLY know EVDO and can help you if you have any questions (before you buy one or after you buy one). Many of the Verizon store reps, do not understand EVDO, like we do. Also, we have heard that Verizon Tech support is starting to refer users directly to our web sites for answers to their problems. So, support us and make your EVDO experience the best! |
