Starting April 7, 2008, 3Gstore.com is now included Sprint SmartView (content/view/2308/64/) connection software with all Sprint EVDO Card orders. This free CD gives the latest Sprint connection manager that was just released a few days ago. 3Gstore.com has tested it and feels that it is important enough to include with all orders.

This is especially important for our Mac customers - since this release is the first Sprint native connection manager for Mac users.

One feature that Sprint Mac users have NEVER had was the ability to activate their card on their Mac. Previously, a Windows PC (or BootCamp or Fusion) would be required to do initial activation and to do any PRL Updates. Finally, Mac users can finally do everything on their Mac without a need for a Windows PC.

This also includes GPS. Mac users can use the built-in GPS to drive Mapping programs from Google or Yahoo along with the ability to easily locate nearby points of interest (POI) like banks, hotels, restaurants and other place people need to find easily and quickly during a roadtrip.

The new Sprint Smartview for Mac will be included with the upcoming Sierra Compass 597 USB (content/view/2282/64/) modem that was announced by Sprint today (expected in April 2008).

3GStore will begin including a copy of the latest Smartview connection manager software on a CD that we will ship with every Sprint EVDO device (http://3gstore.com/sprint) ordered with service from 3GStore.

"3GStore Re-Certified" U720, PX500 & AirCard 595 EVDO Devices Now Available

3GStore Re-Certified U720, PX500 AirCard 595 EVDO Devices Now Available U720 (http://3gstore.com/U720), Sierra Wireless AirCard 595 (http://3gstore.com/AC595) and Pantech PX500 (http://3gstore.com/PX500) PC Cards for immediate purchase. These devices were used by a customer and returned to Sprint during a 30-day trial period for one reason or another. If you have been wanting to upgrade to EVDO Rev-A but have held off because you don't want to pay full retail for a new device or to extend your Sprint contract for another two years, then this new offering from 3Gstore (http://3gstore.com/) is exactly the solution you have been looking for! The Novatel U720 (http://3gstore.com/U720) was the first Rev-A USB modem Sprint started selling back in November 2006 and was a very popular item, even up to the point Sprint stopped selling it. Unlike the currently available USB offerings, the Sprint U720 (http://3gstore.com/U720) does work with the Kyocera KR1 EVDO router. The Sierra Wireless AirCard 595 (http://3gstore.com/AC595) is a Rev-A PCMCIA format card that is disappearing from Sprint's current line-up as stock is used up. In our opinion, it is the most robustly built PC Card and has a superior external antenna jack that stands up to a lot of use. The AC595 (http://3gstore.com/AC595) works great in the Linksys EVDO Router (http://3gstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info cPath=35 products_id=231), and will also work well with forthcoming Kyocera KR2 Router (KR2). The Pantech PX500 (http://3gstore.com/PX500) PC Card was a favorite of many customers primarily because it worked with the venerable Kyocera KR1 EVDO Router as well as the Linksys EVDO Router (http://3gstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info cPath=35 products_id=231). The PX500 (http://3gstore.com/PX500) will also work with the forthcoming Kyocera KR2 Router (KR2). All three of these EVDO devices are great upgrade choices for someone who is still using a slower Rev-0 device like a PC5740 or S620 PC card or a CDU550 USB modem, and wants to upgrade to a faster EVDO Rev-A device for significantly faster speeds and lower connection latency (when used in actual Rev-A coverage areas). 3GStore's re-certification process ensures that the devices have the latest firmware and have fully functional antenna jacks. More importantly, 3Gstore has also checked each device's ESN to ensure that it is clear of all overdue charges, and ready to be added as a new line or a replacement device to any Sprint account. (these devices cannot be used on any other carrier aside from Sprint USA network) All three re-certified devices are immediately available without contract/service for just $129.99 -- much less than full retail for devices like the U727 ($329.99) or the S720 ($269.99). Purchase the U720 (http://3gstore.com/U720) with one of the popular Cradlepoint EVDO routers (CTR350 (CTR350), PHS300 (PHS300), MBR1000 (MBR1000)) and you can get $50 off the combined price! Purchase the AirCard 595 (http://3gstore.com/AC595) or PX500 (http://3gstore.com/PX500) with the Linksys/Sprint router (http://3gstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info cPath=35 products_id=231) (or the forthcoming Kyocera KR2 (KR2)) and you can get $50 off the combined price. Of course, you can also get these re-certified devices with a new service (http://3gstore.com/sprint) contract. The U720 with 2yr contract (http://3gstore.com/sprint) is just $40, and the AirCard 595 or PX500 with 2yr contract (http://3gstore.com/sprint) is just $20! Call 1-866-3GStore if you have any questions, or to place your order today! Please note, when you call Sprint to do an ESN Swap, you will need to have a Windows XP or Vista computer (Mac Users can use BootCamp or Fusion) along with the latest Sprint Connection Manager (http://www.sprint.com/downloads)

3GStore Down for Several Hours

We apologize to all customers trying to access our websites or call us earlier today. An unexpected internet outage due to a fiber being cut in Chicago caused some trouble for all of us at 3GStore.com this morning. Apparently this was an upstream reqgional issue that affected others in the Chicago area, including AT T. About 10am CST, our internet provider went down, rendering us completely helpless for 4 hours (ay other Chicago based web sites too)

All websites - 3GStore.com, evdoinfo.com and evdoforums.com were down - as well as our phone system. Customers calling in earlier today would have heard a message that says Operator can not connect call , or just received a busy signal. Again, we are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused our customers, we are taking steps to ensure that such an outage does not affect us as severely in the future.

3Gstore helps gaming customers get online with EVDO

3Gstore helps gaming customers get online with EVDO Online gaming is hot and getting hotter. Last christmas season even more players got the latest game consoles from Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft with the hopes of playing online with milllions of others around the world. The best connectivity for online gaming is a fast cable or DSL connection, but what about those folks who live in more remote areas where 'common' cable and DSL just aren't so common? For many of these gamers, internet connectivty has been through snail-slow dial-up ISP's (remember those?), and online gaming via dial-up is simply not possible. Many of these folks have also experimented with satellite 'broadband'... only to learn the meaning of Latency . It takes forever to get a signal out into space and all the way back again. By the time you do, you're dead meat in that 1st person shooter. More and more of these desparate gameplayers are now finding themselves in EVDO Rev-A coverage as Sprint and Verizon expand into more rural areas each month. Each month that a new rural area gets covered, EVDO is new again to a large group of people. The number of calls and forum posts from folks who say they just turned on EVDO in my area and I want to know if its good enough for online gaming continues to grow with each passing day/week/month. For these folks just learning about EVDO, getting things to work isn't always that simple. While the average sprint or verizon store employee is very likely to be a gamer, they just don't USE the EVDO data devices their employer sells, and if you ask them about EVDO and gaming... well how can their opinion count if they've never tried it? Over these past few weeks, the EVDO Experts at 3GStore (http://3gstore.com) have spent countless hours developing a PDF document that will be made available exclusively to 3Gstore customers who have bought their CradlePoint Router and Sprint or Verizon EVDO device with service through 3gstore.com and want help getting the best possible online gaming gear. We can only provide this PDF document to 3gstore customers because there will be a significant amount of tech support needed, and we simply cannot afford to provide that support to non-3gstore-customers. If you bought your CradlePoint Router and EVDO device with service from 3gstore and want to get your online game on... This 8 page PDF only supports the CradlePoint CTR350 (http://3gstore.com/ctr350) , PHS300 (http://3gstore.com/phs300) or the upcoming MBR1000 (mbr1000) routers. We selected these routers because of their data shaping, and quality of service support allow can make a huge difference. This PDF covers Wii, PlayStation 3 and xBox/xBox 360 and Ethernet OR wireless connections to your CradlePoint router. If you already purchased your equipment from 3Gstore.com, just send an email to support at 3Gstore.com with the subject of Send EVDO Gaming PDF . For faster service, include your 3Gstore Invoice number.
3Gstore provides customers Sprint EVDO connection fix

3Gstore provides customers Sprint EVDO connection fix

For months now, many Sprint EVDO users have encountered much frustration over an intermittent inability to surf certain webpages, yet still having connectivity to do other activities and even surf other sites. An EVDOforums thread (http://www.evdoforums.com/thread6542.html) on this subject was started back in August 2007 and has grown to over 120 posts and has been viewed over 12000 times.

Over these past few months, the EVDO Experts at 3GStore (http://3gstore.com) have spent countless hours on endless phone calls with every level of Sprint tech support trying to understand and isolate the problem. It has been a difficult problem to reproduce because the condition can have multiple causes and starting over with each customer's specifics with Sprint tech support, is absolutely maddening.

Some of the Sprint tech support geniuses went deep into their scripts to recommend all sorts of off-the-wall suggestions, none of which ever came close to solving the issues, even for a short period of time. This leads us to believe that they don't have an answer, or its possible they know what the problem is but aren't willing or capable of fixing it.

3gstore is confident that we've identified at least one very common cause of these symptoms and we have developed specific troubleshooting procedures to see if certain reproducible problems exist. If they do, then we can provide our Mac OSX and Windows XP/Vista customers with a solution for this condition that should provide results very quickly. 3gstore has created a PDF document that will be made available exclusively to 3Gstore customers who have bought their Sprint EVDO device with service through 3gstore.com and are suffering from these specific types of connection issues.

We can only provide this PDF document to 3gstore customers because even with this potential cure, there will be a significant amount of tech support needed, and we simply cannot afford to provide that support to non-3gstore-customers.

Naturally, 3gstore's customers would prefer a real solution from Sprint, rather than have to deal with using a workaround provided by 3gstore... but when our customers are paying $60/mo for unlimited service, they expect to be able to use it without limitations and we strive to provide superior customer service whenever we can.

If you bought your Sprint EVDO device with service from 3gstore and are experiencing intermittent connection issues, contact support@3gstore.com (mailto:support@3gstore.com) and provide us with your Name, invoice number with Sprint Card and Service and in the subject request 'Sprint Port 80 Workaround PDF'. We will send you a 3 page PDF:

3GStore receives first ever shipment of PHS300 EVDO Routers

3Gstore has been selling and supporting EVDO Routers pretty much since the day there was such a thing available. The Kyocera KR1 was the first consumer-oriented, mass-produced EVDO router, and 3Gstore was one of the first retailers to receive a shipment (content/view/677/64/), and the anticipation leading to that day when we got the first batch, was tremendous. Today, the 3GStore team is feeling it, all over again. By the time you read this, because of our 'Strategic Partnership' with Cradlepoint, 3Gstore will have received the very first batch of the much desired CradlePoint PHS300 EVDO routers (PHS300), and our expert warehouse staff will be quickly boxing them up getting ready for the FedEx truck that comes to pick up our outgoing shipments to customers. After the dust settles, we plan on doing a writeup on the entire ordeal... it should be a fun read. Before we forget, we need to pass along a big Thank You to our contacts at CradlePoint who did everything in their power to get this shipment to us in time for Chistmas deliveries.

Top Global EVDO Router MB6800 Supports RealTime GPS Tracking

Top Global MB6800 Supports RealTime GPS Tracking with Novatel Sprint EVDO Modems Attention: Why 3Gstore stopped selling Top Global routers (http://evdoinfo.blogspot.com/2008/04/why-3gstore-stopped-selling-top-global.html) With the latest firmware release from Top Global, the MB6800 now supports GPS and GoogleEarth directly. This means that just inserting a Novatel EX720, S720 or U720 into the MB6800 will allow the card to be tracked via GoogleEarth - without the purchase of any additional equipment. This is amazing news for anyone interested in using their EVDO card for realtime GPS tracking - with no additional fees. Our most expensive router has now become the least expensive GPS system! Just $349.99 will get you everything you need to use your Sprint Novatel card to allow family/friends/employers/etc. to keep an eye on your travels! There are many reasons for businesses to consider the MB6800 with GPS capability: No more lost drivers and more On-Time deliveries. Lower fuel costs and less wasted mileage means overall lower maintenance costs. Improved customer service/satisfaction since you know where everyone in your fleet is at all times. Lowest total cost of ownership, if business already has MB6800's deployed to fleet. And of course, with EVDO through MB6800, staff has unlimited access to internet. Email, chat, google... anything! anytime! The GPS Module is also great for anyone who just wants to: Let friends and family track progress of your latest adventure. Let bloggers show their audience where they are as they travel to different events. Let RVers track each other as they drive across the nation. Let parents track their children everywhere they go. Let spouses know where their other half really is. See where they are at, while they are driving! How does our product compare to what else is out there? When you purchase your TopGlobal MB6800 from 3GStore.com, along with the latest firmware, we will include a CD with a 16 page tutorial written by our EVDO experts! We found some sites selling GPS realtime tracking service that offered a lot of fancy reporting and interactive features. These services all generally charged $20/mo to $120/mo for their GPS specific services and none of their devices allowed unlimited internet access to high-speed 3G EVDO wireless broadband. We also found sites selling portable battery-operated devices that claimed to offer realtime tracking with no monthly fees , but these devices didn't really offer what we call reatime tracking. Instead, they collected data into a unit that you had to retrieve from the vehicle and then download the data from, before you could see the information about the trip. Hard to believe they call that realtime. What we didn't find was any service that offered true GPS realtime tracking and no monthly fees (We do have a similar solution for the Kyocera KR1 and GPS (content/view/1987/64/)). With TopGlobal MB6800 and a supported card with EVDO service, you do have to pay a monthly fee, but its not specifically associated with GPS realtime tracking, nor is GPS tracking the only thing you can do for that monthly fee. With our solution, your vehicle/truck/RV is equipped with high-speed EVDO broadband internet access, and GPS realtime tracking, at no extra charge. Attention RV'rs, now you have have a hotspot IN YOUR vehicle AND have others track your real-time location. If you purchased your Sprint EX720/S720/U720 and MB6800 from 3Gstore.com, please email support at 3Gstore.com and we can email you the new Firmware and PDF on how to use this GPS Tracking feature. All new MB6800 orders will include the necessary firmware and 16 page tutorial written by our EVDO experts on CD.
Verizon's UM150 USB EVDO Rev-A Modem - First Impressions

Verizon's UM150 USB EVDO Rev-A Modem - First Impressions Verizon's latest Rev-A USB EVDO modem is the UM150 made by Pantech, the same folks who make the Verizon PC5750 and Sprint PX500. The first thing you notice about the UM150 is its size, but unlike other USB devices that have been released lately like the CDU680 (content/view/2106/63/) and USB727 (content/view/2114/40/), the new UM150 isn't smaller than the rest. In fact, at 3.6 (H) x 1.5 (W) x 0.7 (D) - the UM150 is actually BIGGER than the rest. Take a look for yourself: Like the USB727, the UM150 features a microSD slot that supports up to a 4GB card that you can store photos, videos, music and other documents on. You can see the slot cover at bottom of the UM150 in the photo above, and here's a photo of a card inserted into the UM150's microSD slot: The UM150 features a first-of-its-kind for EVDO devices: a telescoping antenna. It didn't provide any impressive performance gain over not having the antenna deployed, and because the shaft of the antenna is made of plastic, its our opinion that it might easily break. Thankfully, the UM150 shares the swiveling feature of the CDU680, so that the antenna can be deployed up, rather than straight out sideways. Here is what the UM150 looks like inserted into a MacBook Pro, with the modem swiveled upright and the antenna deployed: Thankfully, the UM150 does come with a jack and this time around, we already have the adapter cable needed for this new device that allows for external antennas and amplifiers (http://3gstore.com/index.php?main_page=index cPath=100). Aside from the telescoping antenna, the UM150 does have a couple of other unique features that allow for feedback no other USB EVDO modem has ever provided: you can see the modem's signal strength via LED's on the outside case, and you can tell when the microSD card is actively reading or writing data. The UM150 ships with a Y-cable, which means that it can draw power from two USB ports if signal is weak enough to require more power. It also ships with a CD that includes Mac and Windows software. The UM150 ships with Verizon's VZAccess Manager software that is compatible with Windows XP and Vista (32/64bit) and also with Mac OSX 10.3.9 and up through 10.5 Leopard. The worst thing about the new Verizon UM150 is that it DOES NOT WORK WITH ANY 3G ROUTER. We tested it with the Kyocera KR1 (content/view/264/63/), the TopGlobal MB6800 (content/view/1947/64/) and even the new Cradlepoint CTR350 (content/view/2124/63/). None of them recognized the UM150. This might change in the future, but it sure makes the UM150 our least favored of Verizon's USB devices for the moment.UPDATE: Less than six weeks after this review was posted, our 'Strategic Partnership' with Cradlepoint produced a beta version of firmware for their routers that provided support for the Verizon and Alltel version of the UM150! See this article for more info on the subject -> http://www.evdoinfo.com/content/view/2210/64/ (content/view/2210/64/)While our opinion about build quality still remains the same, it applies more to 'traditional use' where someone would have to be attaching/detaching the UM150 to/from a laptop many times during the course of a travel day. Under those conditions, we still aren't confident that the UM150's build quality would hold up well.HOWEVER! If the UM150 were to live life attached to a desktop computer or a router the majority of the time, and rarely be 'handled' for any reason, we see that as a perfect application for the UM150 and really don't have a problem with it, under those conditions. The ability for someone to see the signal being received by the UM150 as they try different positions for their router, is unique to the UM150, and has really been a blessing for some customers. The UM150 is FREE after a $50 mail in rebate, and is available from the EVDO Experts at 3Gstore.com. Purchasing a UM150 with service entitles you to discounts on antennas, routers and amplifiers -- and more importanly -- superior customer and tech support from EVDO Experts that actually use and test these devices on a regular basis!
Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and EVDO Card Compatibility

Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and EVDO Card CompatibilityÂ

Apple has launced Mac OS X 10.5 / Leopard and EVDOinfo.com wil be performing compatibility tests soon. We are expecting possibly a few new cards added to Apple Native WWAN Support. This will benefit Sprint EVDO Cards. The big unknown at this time, is if Verizon's VZAccess Manager which currently supports Mac, will work with 10.5.

Here is what the native WWAN support icon looks like in the Leopard menu bar:

Verizon Wireless Reimburses 13,000 Terminated EVDO Users

Verizon has terminated 13,000 EVDO users for using 'too much' unlimited data. Verizon has since changed the verbiage, but there were still many affected users. Now Verizon has settled with the State of New York to reimburse those affected users.

Also, in the announcement, Verizon has stated, Verizon
Wireless has voluntarily ceased cutting off customers based on their
data usage and no longer prohibits common internet uses. Â Â This is great news for current and future Verizon EVDO users, there is no longer the issue of going over 5GB Â

Sprint U727 EVDO USB Modem - First Impressions

Sprint U727 EVDO USB Modem - First Impressions

At first glance, the new Sprint U727 made by Novatel is quite impressive... Its tiny and shiny!

When both are inserted the same way into a USB port, the Novatel U727 sticks out just a little bit less than the tiny Franklin CDU680 does, though the CDU680 can swivel up and out of the way.

Sprint's U727 comes with a first-of-its-kind diversity loop antenna designed to improve upon signal capture compared to flag-style flip-up antennas of other devices.

Aside from its size, for Windows users there is not much else to offer compared to the CDU680 or even the older U720. Like the other devices, the U727 comes with Sprint's connection manager and offers Location-based GPS services (content/view/1879/63/).

For Linux users, the U727 is the first device to ship from Sprint with support for Linux (however, the Franklin CDU-680 does offer Linux Support too). Its not a GUI connection manager, and there are no GPS functions, but at least Linux users don't have to get creative to connect with the U727, as with past devices.

The MicroSD memory slot is impressive. This is the first 2 in 1 device, that allows you to have a powerful EVDO modem and a thumbdrive in one device. Sprint ships it with NO memory, you have to purchase your own MicroSD memory to use this impressive feature.

When compared to the CDU680, the biggest difference is how it works for Mac OSX users. Sprint's included software does allow a Mac user to activate a U727 on a Mac, so thats a big improvement -- but the CDU680 comes with software that provides signal bars, and indicates what type of network a user is on (1xRTT/EVDO), and the CDU680 is still the only device to provide Mac users (intel or PowerPC) with GPS features. Lots of photos about the CDU680's Mac-friendliness can be found on our CDU680 review (content/view/2106/63/).

The new U727 has the tiniest antenna jack we've ever seen. 3GStore.com now has full line of U727 Antennas and Amps (http://3gstore.com/index.php?main_page=index cPath=95) available.

We've tested the U727 in both the Kyocera KR1 (content/view/264/63/) and the Top Global MB6800 (content/view/1947/64/), and had no success with either router at all. The good news is that the U727 (and Verizon's USB727) works with CradlePoint's CTR350 (content/view/2124/63/), PHS300 (PHS300) and Order a Sprint U727 Securely from 3Gstore.com (https://3gstore.com/sprint/cards.php)

Verizon Wireless USB727 is First EVDO USB Modem With Integrated microSD Storage

Verizon Wireless Offers Industry First: USB Wireless Broadband Modem With Integrated Data Storage

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. and SAN DIEGO, Sept. 27 -- Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network, today announced the availability of the USB727 Modem. Developed by Novatel Wireless, a leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, and carrying the distinction of being the world's smallest Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revolution A (Rev. A) modem stick, the USB727 features an integrated microSD(TM) slot, allowing for the seamless storage and transport of up to 4 GB of files, photos or videos. USB727 Modem will be available on October 5.

The USB727 is designed to work with any computing device equipped with a Type A USB port -- including most desktops, notebooks, and tablet PCs -- and provides on-the-go access to Verizon Wireless' national high-speed wireless broadband network. With out-of-box support for most operating systems, including Windows® (Vista, XP, 2000), Mac® and Linux, the USB727 enables Verizon Wireless customers to stay connected to online resources with speeds and performance similar to those of traditional cable or DSL connections.

The USB727 is optimized for Verizon Wireless' EV-DO Rev. A network and the company's BroadbandAccess service which provides average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps. Verizon Wireless customers with the USB727 can download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment -- the equivalent of a small PowerPoint® presentation or a large PDF file -- in about eight seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 13 seconds.

Designed to be extremely durable and fit comfortably in any pocket, the USB727 combines a variety of innovative features into its tiny form factor, including an integrated dual-band diversity antennae system with flip-up antennae to maximize data speed performance and provide a strong network signal reception. VZAccess Manager Software is included to simplify set-up and navigation through the USB727's features.

Pricing and Availability

The USB727 is available at $149.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and new two- year agreement. Customers can get BroadbandAccess service for Internet browsing, e-mail and intranet access for $59.99 monthly access with a new one- or two-year customer agreement.

Vista Patch Improves EVDO Card Performance

Vista Patch Improves EVDO / HSDPA 3G Card Performance

Microsoft has released a patch for Vista that improves EVDO Wireless
Data Card performance when running under Vista. This patch is NOT
available as part of the Vista sofware update, you will need to
download the patch directly from Microsoft.

Symtoms (from 940646)

You use a 3G wireless wide area network (WWAN) data card on a Windows
Vista-based computer. The WWAN data card uses a connection that only
receives data. However, you may find that the throughput is much less
than the throughput of the same 3G WWAN data card when you use it on a
Microsoft Windows XP-based computer.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of the way that TCP receive window auto
tuning is used in Windows Vista for connections that only receive data.

Windows Vista obtains a round-trip time (RTT) estimate at the time of
connection setup and every time that a new segment of data that is
transmitted. A connection that only receives data is limited to the
single RTT sample that is obtained at the time of connection setup.
Because the connection only receives data, the connection cannot
converge to the actual RTT of the connection. For example, because
the RTT data may fluctuate for various reasons, a converge operation
is performed to estimate a meaningful RTT by using blending current and
previous RTT data. However, if the connection cannot converge to the
actual RTT of the connection, the bandwidth delay product (BDP)
estimate that Vista obtains is also incorrect. Therefore, the
connection's receive window is limited, and throughput of the connected
transmission network is reduced.

Note Windows XP does not support the TCP receive
window auto tuning feature. Instead, a static value may be configured
in the registry to try to improve throughout. For more information,

Knowledge Base.

Verizon Announces Sierra AirCard 595U USB EVDO Modem

Verizon Announces Sierra AirCard 595U USB EVDO Modem

Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network, and Sierra Wireless (Nasdaq: SWIR - TSX: SW) today announced the availability of the Sierra Wireless AirCard® 595U USB modem for use with Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess service. The 595U modem will be available in all sales channels on August 30.

Designed to provide customers access to Verizon Wireless' Evolution-Data Optimized Revision A (EVDO Rev. A) network, the AirCard 595U modem is compatible with USB ports on most notebook and desktop computers. The modem can also be connected through the included docking cradle, which provides an alternative for customers without PCMCIA card slots.

Since Verizon Wireless' entire wireless broadband network operates on advanced EVDO Rev. A technology, BroadbandAccess customers using the AirCard 595U modem can expect average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps. With these speeds a customer can typically download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment in about eight seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 13 seconds. The AirCard 595U modem comes with VZAccess Manager software, which is compatible with Windows® 2000, XP and Vista operating systems. The AirCard 595U modem also features an internal, removable battery to ensure there is always enough power support to handle peak or fringe area transmission requirements. (warning, understand the issues with batteries before purchasing. see notes below.)

Pricing and Availability

The AirCard 595U modem will be available for $179.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year customer agreement. * requires an external powered USB hub (content/view/2005/63/), otherwise the battery dies after 90 minutes and you cannot use your modem until you charge it in a laptop. If you are in a permanent fringe area, your battery *may* not be able to charge :(

Verizon Announces That Entire EVDO Network Is Now Rev-A

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., June 29Â -- Verizon Wireless announced today that all of its CDMA 1x Evolution-Data Optimized (EVDO) network nationwide has been enhanced to Revision (Rev.) A technology. The enhancements throughout the company's wireless broadband network provide customers from coast to coast with access to e-mail, everyday corporate data, the Internet and more at faster speeds and the ability to upload files eight to nine times faster than before.

Earlier this year, we announced we were making the nation's first wireless broadband network even better by significantly improving network speeds and performance, said Dick Lynch, executive vice president and chief technical officer for Verizon Wireless. In just the first two quarters of this year, we made that pledge a kept promise. When other carriers still operate networks that don't allow customers to download music over-the-air or access e-mail at speeds faster than dial-up, Verizon Wireless is meeting the needs of more than 210 million people with wireless music downloads, faster access to e-mail and true wireless broadband Internet browsing.

The enhanced network allows Verizon Wireless customers to download files at speeds as much as ten times faster than customers of other wireless service providers that use different broadly deployed network technologies.

BroadbandAccess at Faster Speeds

The company's flagship business data service, BroadbandAccess, runs faster and more efficiently with the new network enhancements; customers can take advantage of upload speeds that are eight to nine times faster than before plus interact with Web-based applications with improved latency for an even better experience. For example, BroadbandAccess customers with Rev. A- compatible devices can now expect average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps, which means customers can download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment -- the equivalent of a small PowerPoint® presentation or a large PDF file -- in about eight seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 13 seconds.

Devices that take advantage of the faster speeds provided by the EV-DO Rev. A network enhancements include the USB720 wireless modem, V740 ExpressCard, AirCard 595 and PC5750 PC Cards from Verizon Wireless, which are fully compatible with the company's enhanced and existing wireless broadband networks and the company's NationalAccess network (based on CDMA 1xRTT technology).

Network Testing

Verizon Wireless dedicates a team of technical professionals, real-life test men and women across the country, to monitor and test the network every day to ensure efficient operation. The quality testing teams drive a fleet of 98 specially equipped test vehicles almost 1,000,000 miles annually on city streets, major highways, secondary roads and rural roads to test network performance, call quality and data network performance on the Verizon Wireless network and the networks of up to seven other wireless carriers. Annually, they place more than three million test calls and perform 16 million data tests.

The information they gather is used not only to compare performance with competitors', but also to help engineers plan the company's annual $6 billion network improvement program, including placement of new cell sites and expansion of existing call capabilities in growing communities. Verizon Wireless has invested $37 billion in the last seven years to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services.

Which is Faster? Dedicated EVDO Devices vs. Tethered Phone

Which is Faster? Dedicated EVDO Devices vs. Tethered Phone

Treo 755P vs. Novatel EX720 ExpressCard

Here's a topic that will come up more and more as each new phone or PDA is released:
Which is faster? A Tethered Phone / PDA, or a true EVDO data card / USB modem?

3Gstore.com will (very soon), be selling PDAs. In our research testing, we decided to write this article.

Important points on tethering:

-- Tethering makes sense only for those who need infrequent access to the internet. someone who only has to log in once a day or less, and doesn't live online for 2-12 hours a day.

-- You can only tether for as long as your phone/pda's battery lasts. Of course, you can always plug your phone in - but the point of broadband wireless is that you can use it without being plugged in, right?

-- While you are tethered, your phone/pda battery will die faster. In fact many phone forums are spreading the word that just turning off the EVDO part of a phone saves a lot of battery life. Imagine how short battery life is when you are actually using your phone to move data over EVDO!

-- You cannot talk on your phone/pda, and be tethered for internet access at the same time. This is the main deal-breaker for the tech/consultant/executive who is on the go and needs to be talking with a client at the same time researching an answer on the web.

-- As of 06/14/07, there are no EVDO Rev-A phones out yet. EVDO Rev-A is the fastest available networks from Sprint and Verizon and many people with their new Rev-A compatible devices experience in excess of 2000kbps/sec downloads. (See for yourself: Fastest Downloads submitted on EVDOMaps.com (http://evdomaps.com/Fastest+Downloads))

-- If you tether via wireless BlueTooth and only have BT1.x you are never even going to see EVDO speeds. BT1.x has max throughput of about 200-400kbps which is slower than EVDO speeds. If you are lucky enough to have one of the rare phones / PDAs with BT2.x or tether via USB cable, then at least your tethering method is not a bottleneck.

-- Lastly, a phone or PDA's infrastructure is designed for phone use FIRST, and data transmission second. (sometimes 3rd, 4th etc) This means that phones and PDAs are NOT good at being a data device. Their internal processor focuses its effort on other things like actually being a phone, or being a media player, etc. The internal data bus of a phone is not 'tuned' for maximum data throughput.

Another issue may be if you have a Macintosh. Most PDAs will not tether via USB out of the box to Mac, however, there are many 3rd party solutions to get around this.

All this adds up to the fact that the fastest tethered phone or PDA is only about one third as fast as a dedicated EVDO data device, given the same exact EVDO signal.

We tested a Treo 755p (tethered via USB) and an EX720 ExpressCard at the same location and time. Here are the results:

Which is Faster? EVDO ExpressCard, USB, or PC Card?

Which is Faster? EVDO ExpressCard, USB, or PC Card?

We get asked this question every day: which form factor is faster for
EVDO devices? Our answer is that form factor has nothing to do with
realized EVDO speeds. The devices are made in different form factors
simply to accommodate the needs of different customers. Not everyone
has a card slot, nor does everyone want to use USB if they have a card
slot.

Seems like a simple enough answer to believe, right? But
nooo... the folks who believe themselves to be technically aware always
want to argue that ExpressCards have to be faster than PCMCIA which has
to be faster than USB.

Yes, they are right. In general, thats the way most rank the form factors as it pertains to speed through a slot/port.

But let me give you an example that shuts up most geeks in an argument over form factor selection, as it pertains to EVDO.

Lets
say we take 3 water hoses of different diameters -- 6 , 4 and 2 . We
don't have to argue that given the same water pressure and unlimited
water supply, the 6 hose is definitely going to be able to move more
water in one minute than the other two hoses, right? Its a no brainer.
(finally we can agree on something)

Now, let's hook up to the inlet side of these 3 hoses, a 1/4 diameter supply hose. That's 0.25 diameter for you geeks.

Which of the 3 hoses is now going to move more water in one minute? the 6 , the 4 or the 2 ?

The
answer is: they will all move the same amount of water. Why? because
the available supply line moves much less water than the capacity of
the hose being tested. Exactly.

EVDO Rev-A theoretical
max bandwidth is 3.1 Megabits per second. Many have experienced real
life bursts of over 2.5 Megabits per second. (See for yourself. here is
a link to the fastest downloads on http://EVDOmaps.com (http://evdomaps.com/Fastest+Downloads))

ExpressCard slots are capable of 2.5 GIGAbytes per second. PCMCIA comes in many flavors, but the highest spec (http://www.pcmcia.org/faq.htm#data) I could find says it will move 33 MEGAbytes per second. USB 2.0 is 480 Megabits per second. (Google tells me (http://www.google.com/search?q=convert+480+megabits/sec+to+megabytes/sec)
that translates to 60 MEGAbytes per second, so it can actually be
faster than PCMCIA.) Heck, USB 1.0 is already 11 Megabits per second
and that has to represent the slowest of all the form factors an EVDO
device will work with.

So if all of these different form factors
were supplied with exactly the same 3.1 Mbit/sec bandwidth of the
absolute most pristine EVDO Rev-A connectivity, how much will each form
factor be able to move through it? You guessed it. the same 3.1
Mbit/sec!

The EVDO devices are made in different form factors,
simply to accommodate the needs of different customers. Not every
customer has an ExpressCard and/or PC Card slot, and not everyone wants
a USB device if they can use an available card slot.

When a
customer asks us Since I can use any form factor, and I want the
fastest device - what should I get? , we tell them that when tested
under identical conditions, the devices are all the same speed. You need to make a decision based on other factors and not the speed of the device.

We're
EVDO Experts and we have practical experience with each and every
device sold by Sprint and Verizon. We have helped thousands of our
customers put together the right combination of EVDO Gear to give them
the wireless broadband solution they were after. We're ready to explain
the differences that each form factor can provide you, and get you
setup with the best possible EVDO solution. We look forward to serving
you as our customer.

3Gstore Helps Pantech PX-500 EVDO Vista Users

and Pantech PX-500

Sprint has officially released Vista drivers for the Pantech PX-500. This is the last Mobile Broadband card to support Vista. In order to help our customers, we are now updating our Sprint EVDO Vista Support CD (http://evdoinfo.blogspot.com/2007/03/sprint-evdo-mobile-broadband-and-vista.html) to include support for the Pantech PX-500. Starting May 17, 2007, any Sprint orders that select 3Gstore.com's free pre-activation service (just pay for shipping) will get their PX500 ready to use with Vista.

3Gstore.com's Free Pre-Activation Service includes:

	Upgrading PX-500 to latest firmware
	Upgrading PX-500 to latest PRL
Testing before shipping (eliminates getting a dead card)
Include a CD with latest Vista Drivers

3Gstore's Tech Support department has had customers who have had problems when upgrading firmware while using Vista and we recommend upgrading the firmware on a Windows XP computer. By letting us do the upgrades BEFORE you get it, you will have a more enjoyable experience.

If you are a consumer the price on the PX-500 is $49.99, PLUS there is a $49.99 mail-in rebate, so the net cost on the PX-500 is ZERO.

If you are a corporate account, the price on the PX-500 is FREE.

Sprint has announced that the Free Pantech PX-500 will end sometime this year.

3Gstore Announces GPS Module for KR1 EVDO Router

3GStore.com is proud to offer our new
GPS Module for the Kyocera KR1 Router

The Kyocera KR1 has been our most popular EVDO Router and we've sold
and supported thousands of units since its introduction. With the KR1
router mounted in a vehicle, everyone on board has easy access to the
internet. Having a 'rolling hotspot' was already more than enough
reason for many customers to buy their KR1 and a Sprint or Verizon card
with monthly EVDO service.

Today, 3Gstore.com is announcing a new way to benefit from the KR1
Router with EVDO service: Our new GPS Module for the Kyocera KR1 Router
provides customers the ability to use Google Earth to do RealTime GPS Tracking, with NO additional GPS tracking fees!

Our GPS Module consists of a transceiver that connects to the KR1's
data port using our proprietary cable, custom KR1 firmware, and
detailed PDF instruction manual. When properly installed, the KR1 uses
the transceiver to determine the vehicle's realtime GPS position and
makes that information available to Google Earth as often as once every
5 seconds!

Unlike many similar offerings we've found available, our solution does
not require any monthly charges specific to GPS realtime tracking.
However, the feature is dependent on the EVDO service that the KR1 is
normally used for. EVDO monthly charges are $60 to $80/mo and allow
customers to have unlimited access to web sites, email, instant
messaging and other popular internet services. With our GPS Module,
3GStore customers who use their KR1 with EVDO service for internet
access in their vehicle, will pay NOTHING EXTRA PER MONTH FOR REALTIME GPS TRACKING.

Installation is simple. Place the Garmin magnetic mount GPS on your vehicle's roof:

Attach the Garmin to your KR1 and plug the KR1 into your vehicle for power:

There are many reasons for businesses to consider the combination of the KR1 with our GPS Module:

No more lost drivers and more On-Time deliveries.
Lower fuel costs and less wasted mileage means overall lower maintenance costs.
Improved customer service/satisfaction since you know where everyone in your fleet is at all times.
Lowest total cost of ownership, if business already has KR1's deployed to fleet.
And of course, with EVDO through KR1, staff has unlimited access to internet. Email, chat, google... anything! anytime!

The GPS Module is also great for anyone who just wants to:

Let friends and family track progress of your latest adventure.
Let bloggers show their audience where they are as they travel to different events.
Let RVers track each other as they drive across the nation.
Let parents track their children everywhere they go.
Let spouses know where their other half really is.
See where they are at, while they are driving!

How does our product compare to what else is out there? We found some
sites selling GPS realtime tracking service that offered a lot of fancy
reporting and interactive features. These services all generally
charged $20/mo to $120/mo for their GPS specific services and none of
their devices allowed unlimited internet access to high-speed 3G EVDO
wireless broadband.

We also found sites selling portable battery-operated devices that
claimed to offer realtime tracking with no monthly fees , but these
devices didn't really offer what we call reatime tracking. Instead,
they collected data into a unit that you had to retrieve from the
vehicle and then download the data from, before you could see the
information about the trip. Hard to believe they call that realtime.

What we didn't find was any service that offered true GPS realtime tracking and no monthly fees.

With our GPS Module and your Kyocera KR1 Router with EVDO service,
you do have to pay a monthly fee, but its not specifically associated
with GPS realtime tracking, nor is GPS tracking the only thing you can
do for that monthly fee.

With our solution, your vehicle is equipped with high-speed EVDO
broadband internet access, and GPS realtime tracking, at no extra
charge.

If your company wants our solution bundled with reporting or other
interactive features based on GPS information like latitude, longitude,
altitude, vehicle speed or points over a time period... please contact
us with your specific needs.

What is the cost?

The KR1 GPS Module sells for $295.00 (KR1 not included). If you
purchase the Kyocera KR1 from 3Gstore.com (or already have in the
past), deduct $50, your price is $245.00 If you also purchased a
Verizon or Sprint EVDO Modem with service from us (or already have in
the past), deduct another $50, your price is now $195.

So, if you are just getting started, you would purchase a Kyocera
KR1 for $199.99, a supported Verizon or Sprint EVDO modem from
3Gstore.com ($0 - $100) and of course the KR1 GPS Module for $195.

What EVDO Modems are supported?

We support most of the older EVDO Rev 0 and newer EVDO Rev A modems from Sprint and Verizon, including:

	Sprint S620, S720, PC5740, PX-500, U720
	Verizon V620, KPC650, PC5740, PC5750, USB720, KPC680

(The GPS enabled firmware is based on the latest RK1010 KR1 Firmware)

-1295008414181823153

Technical Overview

install the modified KR1 Firmware (supplied on CD)
Setup free DynDNS (for Dynamic DNS)

Enter DynDNS info in KR1 Configuration
Plug the KR1 into your vehicle
Place the magnetic GPS on the vehicle roof
	Install Free Google Earth (http://earth.google.com/)
Add a new Network Link to Google Earth (DynDNS Info)

For users that don't want to fuss with the setup of
your KR1. We have a service to upgrade your firmware, setup DynDNS so
that all you have to do is plug in your KR1 and place the GPS on the
roof. This setup service costs an additional $100. If you want to see
what is involved with setup, you can download our KR1 GPS Manual.

Kyocera KR1 Now Supports More EVDO Rev A Devices

Kyocera KR1 Now Supports More EVDO Rev A Devices, Including U720/USB720 Verizon USB720 and PC5750, Sprint U720 and PX500 Firmware version RK1010 supports: U720, USB720, PC5750, PX-500, KPC680 Kyocera is about to release RK1010, the latest version of firmware for their KR1 (content/view/264/63/) EVDO Mobile Router. This updated firmware adds support for the following EVDO Rev-A devices: Sprint Ovation U720 (content/view/827/40/) USB Rev A Sprint Pantech PX-500 (content/view/822/40/) Rev A PCMCIA Verizon USB720 (content/view/872/40/) USB Rev A Verizon PC5750 (content/view/863/40/) Rev A PCMCIA Kyocera KPC680 (http://evdoinfo.blogspot.com/2007/02/kyocera-expresscard-kpc680-rev-for.html) (not yet released) IMPORTANT UPDATE: Recent KR1 / PC5750 hardware has new issue. For more information, please read this EVDOforums.com post (http://www.evdoforums.com/thread6483.html) In previous firmware versions, we often found that un-supported EVDO devices would still work, just not at full speeds. For example the Novatel 720 USB Modem worked, but the speeds were limited to about 500kbps. Clearly, the latest firmware fully supports the Verizon USB720 Sprint U720, based on this recent speed test at BroadBandReports.com showing 1605kbps download and 430kbps upload speeds on the Sprint EVDO Rev-A network in Chicago: Important Note: The Sierra AirCard 595 PCMCIA for Verizon Sprint is not supported and does not work in KR1. Using an ExpressCard (V640, V740, EX720) with an ExpressCard Adapter does NOT work in KR1 with RK1010 firmware. The ExpressCards do work with older firmware RK1008 but with limited speeds. So, if you are using a Novatel ExpressCard with adapter, DO NOT INSTALL RK1010. Many customers have long anticipated Kyocera's support for Rev-A USB Modems, simply because of the fact that a USB device works with practically every modern computer. The combination of the KR1 and the Sprint or Verizon USB Rev-A modem is going to be a very popular solution. Here is a picture of the Kyocera KR1 recognizing the Novatel Ovation U720 from Sprint. 3Gstore.com is making it easy for new and existing customers. All new KR1s will include our Router Firmware CD , which includes the latest firmware release (along with ALL previous versions). Also, if you do not want to worry about the hassles of doing a firmware upgrade, for an additional $15, we will do the upgrade before shipping to you. Finally, if you are a previous 3Gstore.com KR1 customer, we offer a mail-in firmware upgrade. If you purchased your KR1 from 3Gstore.com, you can download the Kyocera RK1010 firmware directly from our server. This download is ONLY available to those that purchased their KR1 from 3Gstore.com. Kyocera will be making the RK1010 firmware available next week on their web site. Send an email to sales at 3gstore.com (include full name, and your 3Gstore.com invoice number) and we will email you the username/password to download RK1010. Once you get your password, you can download RK1010 (http://web.archive.org/web/20070508204241/http://www.evdoinfo.com/downloads/rk1010/KR1_RK1010.zip) .
Sprint Ships Sierra AirCard 595U EVDO USB Rev A Modem

Sprint Ships Sierra AirCard 595U EVDO USB Rev A Modem Sprint today shipped the Sierra AirCard 595U USB EVDO Rev A modem. The AirCard 595U is the first EVDO modem to include a built-in rechargeable battery. Previous USB Modems included a Y USB Adapter cable to in order to provide additional power when in fringe areas. The built-in battery is always recharging via USB and when needed will use the battery when needed. The USB modem is fairly compact at: 3.5 x 1.5 x 0.8 . The AirCard 595U includes an antenna port (http://www.evdoforums.com/thread5567.html) for hooking up external antennas and amplifiers. The AirCard 595U also includes built-in GPS for location based services (see: EVDOinfo.com helps EVDO customers use GPS (content/view/1957/63/)). The AirCard 595U is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista (unknown at this time if 64 bit Vista is supported). There is a lite version of a Watcher program available as a separate download for Mac OS X 10.4 users. A lot of programming information is needed for first time use (e.g. you need to call Sprint to get programming / unlock info). To simplify the operation for Mac users, we offer a free Mac Pre-Activation service, which unlocks, activates, test and includes a CD with the needed Mac installers, so you get everything you need. This is important, as we have had provisioning errors on Mac - so let us do it for you, so you have a plug and play experience . Also, as your EVDO Mac Experts, if support is needed, just call our support department who specialize in Macs (support only available to those that purchase the 595U from 3Gstore.com). Sprint doesn't offer Mac support. Sprint is selling the AirCard 595U for $79.99 (2 year contract price), and offers a $50 mail-in rebate for a net cost of $29.99. But you can get the AirCard 595U for FREE (https://3gstore.com/sprint/cards.php) (after $50 mail in rebate) from 3GStore.com!
3Gstore Helps Sprint EVDO Vista UsersÂ

We are now helping Windows Vista users who would like to get a Sprint Mobile Broadband card with the least amount of frustration as possible. We have been helping Mac OS X users for the last few years by pre-activating their Sprint Mobile Broadband Card, providing a Mac OS X Support CD and expert phone support for Mac Users.

Now we are offering the same services for Windows Vista Users.

The following Sprint Connection Cards support 32-bit Vista:

	Merlin S720 PCMCIA

	Merlin EX720 ExpressCard
Sierra AirCard 595 (also support Vista 64 bit)

At the time this article was written, the Pantech PX-500 did NOT have a
Sprint Connection Manager that supports Windows Vista. (expected in May)

The main problem is that the included software on CDs shipped with Sprint device is not Vista compatible. The other problem we're seeing is that many Vista users experience problems while upgrading their firmware for Rev-A networks.

To help Windows Vista users have the best Sprint mobile broadband experience, we now offer the following service to customers who buy device and service from 3Gstore.com (https://3gstore.com/sprint/cards.php):

We will Pre-Activate your EVDO device (which includes provisioning, updating firmware, and updating PRL.
Include a CD with the latest Vista connection managers.
Provide expert phone support should you have difficulty setting up.

What are the additional fees for this service? For 3Gstore.com customers, the only charge is additional shipping expense to have Sprint send us your device. There is no charge from 3Gstore.com for actual preactivation service. Sprint ships your device to us, we activate/update add our Vista CD with the latest software needed for your device and ship to you. We ship from Chicago and offer FedEx Overnight, 2 Day, 3 Day, and Ground. We are a Sprint Master Agent (content/view/877/64/) and are EVDO Experts.

Please note that is is IMPORTANT that you have your firmware upgraded by 4/30/2007 (content/view/1907/64/) or your Sprint EVDO modem may stop working in some areas. The upgrade we perform includes the latest firmware upgrade that is needed by 4/30/2007.

597E, EX720 or V740 in PCMCIA laptop using adapter

597E, EX720 or V740 Rev-A ExpressCards in laptops with PCMCIA (or PC Slot) using Novatel ExpressCard Adapter. There is a big dilemma for owners of older laptops. Your older 15/17 PowerBook or older Windows laptop has a PCMCIA slot, but almost all the newer laptops only come with an ExpressCard slot. If you were to purchase an EVDO Card in the PCMCIA form factor now, you would NOT be able to use it in a new laptop (if you should upgrade during your 2 year contract). This dilemma has kept many older laptop users from buying an EVDO card. So, what do you do? Turn to 3Gstore.com for the solution, of course! For the past few months now, we have been selling and supporting an ExpressCard Adapter which allows an ExpressCard/34 card to work in a PCMCIA card slot. It works great. More importantly, if you have an older laptop (e.g. 15/17 PowerBook) and you may be upgrading to a newer laptop soon (e.g. MacBook Pro), you can purchase ONE mobile broadband card NOW and have it work with both laptops. If you purchase a PCMCIA mobile broadband card now, it could cost you $329.99 or more to buy a Rev-A ExpressCard as an upgrade to a new laptop that only has an ExpressCard slot. Instead of getting stuck with a high-priced upgrade, buy your ExpressCardOrder a Sierra 597E or Merlin EX720 + ExpressCard Adapter From 3Gstore.com (https://3gstore.com/sprint/cards.php)Order a Verizon V740 + ExpressCard Adapter From 3Gstore.com (https://3gstore.com/verizon/cards.php) ExpressCard Adapter Success/Fail - EVDOforums.com (http://www.evdoforums.com/thread4016.html)

3Gstore.com Now Even More Secure

EVDOinfo.com / 3Gstore continues to ensure your security with leading security technology. In the past week we have implemented Extended Validation SSL Certificates.

Extended Validation SSL Certificates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_Validation_(High_Assurance)_SSL_Certificates)Â (also known as EV SSL) were created in direct response to the rise in internet scams and online fraud to make it easier for people transacting online to know that the sites they are using are secure.

3Gstore.com meets those stringent requirements, and we are one of the first wireless companies to be implementing EV SSL technology on their online store's site.

What does it mean?

This additional security EV SSL provides, won't impact your shopping experience. The only difference will occur if you are using Internet Explorer 7 when you connect to 3Gstore.com. During that connection you will notice the following:

The browser's address bar will turn green when you are on a page that asks for confidential information, like when placing a Verizon (https://3gstore.com/verizon/cards.php) or Sprint (https://3gstore.com/sprint/cards.php) Order.

The security status bar will clearly identify that you are dealing with 3Gstore.com , and
The security status bar will also tell you that 3Gstore.com has been identified by GoDaddy for Extended Validation.

So when you see green in the address bar you will know that 3Gstore has the highest possible level of security, verified by an independent company. You'll know then that it is safe to enter your details and are protected against online internet fraud, phishing, and other scams.

Unfortunately, Mac Users won't see this screen... but users of Internet Explorer 7 on XP and Vista will see:

*** Warning ***

Many shopping sites may be collecting your personal information (credit card, social security number, etc.) and then emailing this confidential information over the internet using 'clear text', which is very bad. One way to determine this is to look at the URL/domain that you started with and see if it switches to another site. If it does, then it is likely that the order form information is being collected by a different site or company... one that you may not have intended to deal with! Additionally, many sites may show the padlock that indicates the connection is SSL encrypted, BUT that doesn't indicate the company has gone through the rigorous 3rd party validation that is required to get an 'Extended Validation' SSL certificate, like we have done at 3Gstore.com (http://3Gstore.com)

Merlin EX720 and MacBook Pro

Merlin EX720 and MacBook Pro Sprint recently released the first EVDO Rev A ExpressCard called the Merlin EX720 (http://evdoinfo.blogspot.com/2007/01/novatel-merlin-ex720-rev-expresscard.html). Sprint doesn't provide support for Mac OS, so the EX720 ExpressCard that you purchase at a Sprint store OR directly from Sprint will not work out of the box with your MacBook Pro. Apple and Novatel both released Mac drivers recently, and this makes the process a little easier, BUT there are still a lot to make it work Also, Apple doesn't support Sprint cards and Sprint doesn't offer Mac support (they will do not offer tech support to Mac customers). Enter EVDOinfo.com 3Gstore.com We have been providing Mac support for EVDO cards since 2005. When you purchase your Sprint EX720 from us (https://3gstore.com/sprint/cards.php), you get the same pricing as purchasing it from Sprint directly, but you get these important differences: pre-activate card for MacBook Pro Use (adds 1 day and one additional shipping charge, no other charge) include all needed Mac software on CD include 8 page PDF on CD provide free support (telephone, email, iChat) - we charge $75 per incident if you purchased elsewhere If you should need help, our sales and support team are your Mac EVDO experts. You will be up and running in minutes and our PDF will explain tips and hidden features of using your Merlin EX720 with your MacBook Pro. EVDOinfo recently became a Sprint Master Agent (content/view/877/64/), which means we can: honor corporate discounts you may already get with Spint honor employee purchase programs you may qualify for with Sprint and your employer Also, we offer discounts on antennas and amplifiers (http://3gstore.com/index.php?main_page=index cPath=75) (currently 50% booster antenna, when you purchase an EX720) If you already have access to a Windows PC (or BootCamp on your MacBook Pro), you can save the one day/extra shipping charge when ordering, and we will email you our PDF, don't select 'Mac PreActivate' on the order form. However, if you want your card to come pre-activated with the latest firmware, PRL and ready to plug and play, just select Mac Pre-activate on our order form (https://3gstore.com/sprint/cards.php). Hint: We also offer the same for the U720 USB Modem :)

Verizon announces their 3rd EVDO Rev A Card.  This is a PCMCIA card that is Mac and Vista compatible, has a built-in antenna and external antenna port.  At this time there are a few issues with this card.Â

We received our PC5750 for testing and here is what we know.

Antennas and Amplifiers (http://3gstore.com/index.php?main_page=index cPath=76) are available for the PC5750.  The PC5750 can be activated and is fully supported in PowerBook 15/17 (Windows XP Vista too).  Now, here is the interesting news, when it comes to routers.  The PC5750 does not currently work with the Kyocera KR1, BUT it does work with the LinkSys WRT54G3G-ST and the Top Global MB6000.

Sprint Mac Drivers for U720 S720 EX720

Sprint Mac Drivers Released for Novatel Merlin U720, S720, EX720 Today, Sprint has released drivers for Mac OS X (binary for both PPC Intel Macs). The drivers support: Merlin S720 PC Card (content/view/806/40/) Novatel Ovation U720 USB Modem (content/view/827/40/) Merlin EX720 (Rev A ExpressCard) (content/view/867/40/) This is great news for Mac users, HOWEVER, there are some severe limitations to the drivers that may make it frustrating for Mac users. As the Sprint Mac Experts (We provide Mac Support, Sprint doesn't), we encourage you to read our blog entry on
