We have been in business since 1988. Of course, EVDO Cards haven't been around since then, so there is our story and EVDO. Back in July 2004, we purchased a PC 5220 card. We were VERY excited about the promise of this technology. Being in Chicago, we didn't even have EVDO coverage, just 1xRTT. The first time we got to use EVDO, was in Las Vegas, 3 days before it was officially launched in Vegas. My mother who was recovering from major cancer sugery was in the hospital in Las Vegas. I brought my laptop, PC 5220, booster antenna and headed to Vegas, so my girls could have a video conference with their grandmother. I contacted a newspaper and they thought it was a great human interest story and the even made it into the newspaper (See Las Vegas Sun Article). BTW, when I purchased the Supercharged Booster Antenna (the one that was selling for $269), I felt violated after receiving it. It didn't seem like it should cost so much (more on this below) We started following EVDO very closely and saw some wild claims about performance and a lot of it didn't make sense, actually, it was not correct (see Robert Kim link for more info). So, in the beginning of 2005, We started EVDOInfo.com and EVDOForums.com. There were two goals that we wanted to achieve. For EVDOinfo.com, we wanted to create the BEST web site to share EVDO News, Tips, Links, Coverage and help those who want to go down this road. EVDOforums.com is a discussion board. We have found, that having a place where people can freely share information, will help many others. This has already proven true. There are many people who (like me), are willing to take their time to help others with this exciting technology. At the end of February 2005, we made some huge site designs and hopefully, we have not only developed the BEST EVDO web site, but it will continue to become better and better. We setup Booster-Antenna.com, to sell the EVDO Booster Antennas at a more reasonable price. We initially didn't want to sell anything, as it can cloud your mind and for some people, make you say or claim anything, just to make the sale. Well, we are making a buck or two when you buy the Antenna from us, however, think of it as a small way to say thank you for all this cool information. Also, as we gained knowledge, we discovered the TurboCharge feature of the PC 5220. Once again, we saw others charging $269 for this feature. We thought that was a rip off and put together a PDF for $39. Also, we discuss EVDO routers that sell for $699 (others sell these $1400), and PCI to PCMCIA cards that we found for $25 (others sell for $149). So, besides giving you the best and accurate information that we can, we hope to save you a lot of money too. Some other firsts that we did (and many of these will picked up by many different web sites): After pushing EVDO as far as it will go and publishing cool EVDO tips, we wanted to give PowerBook users more options. The Audiovox/Sierra PC5220 is the ONLY EVDO card that is supported by Mac OS X 10.3.5 - 10.4.1. We discovered AND documented a way to allow PowerBook users to use the newer EVDO Cards:
Wow! We were approached to become a Verizon Authorized Agent. Since, we know so much about this stuff and we are already helping people, why not let them get the EVDO cards from somewhere that ACTUALLY uses and fully understands EVDO.
