ImageApple released Security Update 2005-003 on March 21, 2005. After installing the update on my PowerBook 15 inch, the PC 5220 card was no longer recoginized. So, this Security update breaks the Apple Verizon PC 5220 Drivers.

If you have a PowerBook 15 or 17 inch and use the PC 5220 card, DO NOT INSTALL THIS SECURITY UPDATE!

Tried re-installing drivers, tried repairing permissions. I got the card to be recognized after shutting down and restarting, but now it is not recognized again.

More info posted here, once we have a solution (short of reverting back to the previous version).

Update to story

I have heard from others (only PowerBook 17 inch owners) and the security update did not disable the EVDO card. I found an interesting MacFixit story, which may be related.

If you had success OR failure, please post your comments at EVDO Forums.

We recently installed 10.3.9 and all is well.
