Sprint Ships Sierra AirCard 595U EVDO USB Rev A ModemSprint today shipped the Sierra AirCard 595U USB EVDO Rev A modem. The AirCard 595U is the first EVDO modem to include a built-in rechargeable battery. Previous USB Modems included a Y USB Adapter cable to in order to provide additional power when in fringe areas. The built-in battery is always recharging via USB and when needed will use the battery when needed. The USB modem is fairly compact at: 3.5" x 1.5" x 0.8". The AirCard 595U includes an antenna port for hooking up external antennas and amplifiers. The AirCard 595U also includes built-in GPS for location based services (see: EVDOinfo.com helps EVDO customers use GPS). The AirCard 595U is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista (unknown at this time if 64 bit Vista is supported). There is a "lite" version of a "Watcher program" available as a separate download for Mac OS X 10.4 users. A lot of programming information is needed for first time use (e.g. you need to call Sprint to get programming / unlock info). To simplify the operation for Mac users, we offer a free "Mac Pre-Activation" service, which unlocks, activates, test and includes a CD with the needed Mac installers, so you get everything you need. This is important, as we have had provisioning errors on Mac - so let us do it for you, so you have a "plug and play experience". Also, as your EVDO Mac Experts, if support is needed, just call our support department who specialize in Macs (support only available to those that purchase the 595U from 3Gstore.com). Sprint doesn't offer Mac support. Sprint is selling the AirCard 595U for $79.99 (2 year contract price), and offers a $50 mail-in rebate for a net cost of $29.99. But you can get the AirCard 595U for FREE (after $50 mail in rebate) from 3GStore.com!
