New Sprint Security Safeguards - for New and Existing Sprint Accounts
Sprint has announced a new Enhanced Account Authentication program created as the result of a recent FCC mandate. This new authentication program will require all new Sprint customers to create a 6-10 digit PIN, as well as a security question and answer for use in accessing their accounts. By the end of this year, all Sprint customers - new and existing - will need to have a PIN and security question/answer associated with their account. This new authentication system will help protect Sprint customer's accounts and cut down on fraud.
How will this authentication process protect the customer?
With these new security safeguards in place, only the account owner or corporate liable POCs can access or make changes to an account. This means no one can add new lines of service, change ESNs or access billing information other than the account owner, because only the account owner will have access to the PIN.
What is the PIN?
A customer's PIN must be numeric, and must be 6-10 digits long. It can not be similar to customer's Social Security number or Federal Tax ID. This will be the new password to a customer's account.
What is the security question and answer?
If a customer has lost or forgotten their PIN, it can be retreived by answering the security question the customer chooses. There are a number of security questions to choose from:
- First Elementay School
-
Street you grew up on
-
First employer
-
First name of childhood best friend
-
Favorite hobby
-
First Pet's name
After filling out the Sprint order form, remember to write your PIN down somewhere safe that will be easy to access, should you need to look it up to access your Sprint account. Do not share this PIN with anyone else - it is now the password to your account. 3GStore.com will also keep your PIN and security question on file, so we can look that information up for you if you happen to lose it.
If you have already added a new "PIN" to your account and you are adding an additional line of service to your existing account, 3Gstore will REQUIRE your PIN number in order to add to your existing account.
