Wyoming Customers Now Have Wider Access to High-Speed Wireless Internet, E-Mail, Mobile Music, Videos and More CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Wireless customers in more Wyoming communities now have access to the latest high-speed business and entertainment services on their wireless phones, laptop computers and other wireless devices thanks to Verizon Wireless. The new capabilities come with the expansion of the company's Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision (Rev.) A network to more places in Wyoming, enabling both its BroadbandAccess and V CAST services. The company expanded its high-speed wireless data network earlier this year to include Casper, Cheyenne, Douglas and Laramie. BroadbandAccess The company's enhanced high-speed wireless service, with average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits, is geared towards mobile professionals, business customers and on-the-go students. BroadbandAccess users have the ability to get their corporate information as if they were attached to the information via a high-speed wired connection but with the freedom of true mobility. For example, customers with Rev. A-compatible devices can download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment -- the equivalent of a small PowerPoint® presentation or a large PDF file -- in about eight seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 13 seconds. V CAST The company's consumer-oriented multimedia service offers V CAST subscribers music and short content on demand, including cutting-edge 3D games, music, videos, news, weather and sports. "The broadband network expansion has something for everyone on the go," said Melanie Braidich, regional president of Verizon Wireless. "BroadbandAccess lets our business customers experience a truly untethered mobile office experience. With V CAST, consumers have access to the most comprehensive selection of downloadable music, high-quality videos and coolest 3D games found anywhere." Coverage With this recent expansion, coverage now includes the following communities and points-of-interest in Wyoming:
Verizon Wireless was the first national wireless provider to commercially launch a high-speed wireless broadband network in the United States. Today, its entire nationwide CDMA 1 x EV-DO network has been enhanced to Revision (Rev.) A technology that reaches more than 210 million people. The company has invested more than $54 million in its Wyoming network in the past five years to ensure network reliability and expanded coverage, capacity and capabilities.
