Sprint SmartView - Mac EVDO Connection Manager
Sprint is about to keep a promise they made to Mac users last year - a full blown Sprint Connection Manager. Finally, Mac users will have a complete view and control of their Novatel or Sprint Mobile Broadband card. Mac Users will finally see the a Sprint connection manager in their dock.
System RequirementsThe system requirements for basic installation and operation of the Sprint Connection Manager are shown in the table below.
Supported WWAN Devices
One feature that Sprint Mac users have NEVER had was the ability to activate their card on their Mac. Previously, a Windows PC (or BootCamp or Fusion) would be required to do initial activation and to do any PRL Updates. Finally, Mac users can finally do everything on their Mac without a need for a Windows PC.
This also includes GPS. Mac users can use the built-in GPS to drive Mapping programs from Google or Yahoo along with the ability to easily locate nearby points of interest (POI) like banks, hotels, restaurants and other place people need to find easily and quickly during a roadtrip.
The new Sprint Smartview for Mac will be included with the upcoming Sierra Compass 597 USB modem that was announced by Sprint today (expected in April 2008). 3GStore will begin including a copy of the latest Smartview connection manager software on a CD that we will ship with every Sprint EVDO device ordered with service from 3GStore.
