The EVDO StompBox is a do it yourself step by step directions, to build your own WiFi router that also includes GPS, WebCam and integration with Google Maps Integration. Directions to Built It Yourself are available (or we can build one for you). The StompBox is based on the Soekris net4521 embedded computing device that is Linux based.
Mobile Portable WiFi The WiFi Router, allows you to have a portable hotspot. Have a Hotspot in your car, limo, bus or boat. By sharing the EVDO over WiFi, everyone can access the internet via WiFi. You can instantly setup your hotspot, no need to wait for wired installations, plug in your StompBox, wait 2 minutes and you have an instant hotspot. Some cool things, that you CANNOT do with a regular router, but your can with a StompBox: GPS and Real Time Mapping Besides the HotSpot that moves with you, now others can see your exact location, IN REAL TIME. Basically, someone visits a special web page and the programming on the web page, connects to the StompBox and request the current GPS Longitude and Latitude. This is returned and then a Google Map is drawn with the exact location. This whole process only takes a few seconds. ![]() WebCam Intregration While not as practical, BUT STILL POSSIBLE. Add a wireless webcam and when within range of your StompBox, you can have an image uploaded to a web server. The current bandwidth only allows 50K - 100K on the upload side, so streaming video is not practical. ![]() We recently built one and took one on vacation, so that we had WiFi in the car, AND 100's of people were watching us during our car trip via Real Time GPS and Google Map Integration. ![]() We recently built a bunch of Stompboxes for a limo company, here is a picture of a pile of StompBoxes. If you need a pre-built StompBox, ready to use, contact us! ![]() Possible StompBox Uses:
