Read our blog post about the Sprint Palm Pre With the success of the iPhone, phone manufacturers have been working overtime to design a handset that provides all the fun and "cool factor" Apple offers - but with a little something more. Palm's latest offering, the Palm Pre, is the iPhone's latest competition, and it has several features that will make iPhone users jealous. For one, it is Rev-A capable, meaning your web browsing will be speedy and reliable in tons of areas all around the country (check out the Sprint coverage map and EVDOmaps to see how coverage is near you!) - and you can even use it as a modem! The Pre features the large touch screen mobile users love but it also has a full slide-out QWERTY keypad! PDA users who have been hesitant to make the switch to a full touch-screen device will love being able to type on a REAL keyboard without sacrificing the functionality and fun that a touch screen allows. It's "guts" are golden, too. It runs on Palm's well-received and much-anticipated new webOS - think full integration of all your online contacts, seamless transitions from instant messaging on your PC to your Pre, and universal search functions. The browser is also improved - forget about the old Blazer browser you saw in the older Palms. Finally, the powerful TI OMAP CPU ensures a smooth experience whether you're emailing, browsing, opening a Word doc...... ...and don't forget about the FUN factor. In addition to the much-improved browser (which allows for scrolling and zooming), the Pre has great media capabilities (see below list of features for audio/video formats) and 8GB of built-in storage (sadly, there is NO memory card slot! Perhaps a future model will offer that?). There is even support for applications! Unfortunately, although the Palm Pre is technically capable of serving as a modem, Sprint is NOT allowing customers to add the necessary plans and tethering feature, meaning it is NOT tether-capable.
