Windows 7 and EVDO ModemsAny time a new operating system comes along, there are bound to be issues! In the case of EVDO modems and compatibility, the unfortunate truth is that they may NOT all work together seamlessly straight out of the box. We have begun testing several EVDO modems with Windows 7 (or called win7)and have already come across a few issues. In anticipation of the discovery of further issues - and their subsequent fixes, tips, and tricks! - we have dedicated an area on EVDO Forums to discussing any and all issues relating to using your EVDO service with Windows 7: Visit the Windows 7 Beta Forum We will be posting our test results to the forum, as well as tips and strategies to get your modems working with the new OS, and we'd love to hear your experiences as well! Our first issue came to light as soon as we attempted to install Sprint SmartView to use our 598U. We received an error message saying "This driver installer does not recognize your operating system. The installer will now exit." After looking under "Data Interface", it showed that no driver is installed - in other words, Sprint SmartView does not "see" the mobile broadband card (click image to view full size): After some tinkering, we discovered the solution:
