Optimize Your Sprint EVDO Performance with SmartView for Windows
If you're like most Sprint Mobile Broadband users, you want to be able to take advantage of the highest speeds available while also keeping a close eye on what you download to stay within your bandwidth allowance (for more on the 5GB limit, click here). Luckily, the latest version of the Sprint Connection Manager 2.25 for WINDOWS (sorry, Mac users - this tip is not for you!), features a great tool that will help you reduce your bandwidth usage AND increase your download speeds!
By making a couple tweaks in your network settings in the Sprint SmartView connection manager, you may be able to almost double your download speeds while having control over images and graphics that you download while web browsing. The Acceleration feature works by either degrading the quality of or completely eliminating the images/graphics on websites, so that pages will load faster and you will not waste precious bandwidth downloading images you don't need (which are often large in size can add up!).
This feature is available only with the new Sprint Smartview 2.25 and only on the WINDOWS OS.
To download SmartView 2.25, you can visit www.sprint.com/downloads (it's free).
First, you'll need to install SmartView 2.25. While going through the installation process, make sure to check the "Install the bytemobile optimization client" box:
Once SmartView 2.25 is installed, open the program and select "Acceleration" from the "Tools" menu. In the Acceleration screen, you can select the level of optimization. The higher the acceleration setting, the LOWER the quality of images. If you want to completely eliminate images from downloading at all, select "highest"; if you just want to improve your download speeds and reduce image size slightly, you would select something lower:
By reducing the quality of images that you you download when viewing web pages, you'll notice pages loading faster and your bandwidth usage slowing down!
