Solution includes broad support for mobile devices, ability to address security concerns and features tailored to mobile consumers and workers Sydney, Australia (CeBIT) - May 24, 2005 - SlipStream Data Inc. today announced the availability of its core acceleration technology, the SlipStream Acceleration Engine 4.0, in a solution targeted to wireless carriers. The SlipStream Acceleration Engine is the core technology behind SlipStream SP, the defacto standard in web and email acceleration, already deployed by more than 2000 service providers in 40 countries. The SlipStream Acceleration Engine offers users a substantial performance boost over any network with bandwidth constraints, including dialup, wireless/WiFi (CDMA, GPRS, 1X, etc.), satellite or broadband lite. The software uses patented technology to increase transmission speeds by up to 7 times and decrease bandwidth requirements by up to 98 percent. The SlipStream Acceleration Engine works at the application level instead of the network level and, therefore, can use compression and network optimization techniques tailored to specific applications or protocols. Because of this flexibility, SlipStream can extend and optimize the functionality of the Engine to create complete solutions for specific markets. While the industry-leading SlipStream SP meets the needs of ISPs (Internet Service Providers), SlipStream can now better target other technology partners - including wireless application service providers, telecommunications companies, infrastructure providers, handset manufacturers and enterprises - to embed the SlipStream Acceleration Engine in their hardware or software solutions. The SlipStream solution for wireless carriers is fully compatible with CDMA 1X and EVDO, GSM/GPRS (with or without EDGE) and iDEN. SlipStream software integrates seamlessly into any network, and uses adaptive data compression and network optimization to streamline text, graphics, Flash and web-based emails, including attachments. The SlipStream solution is available for the leading operating systems used on mobile devices, including Windows (95, 98, Me, 2000, XP and NT), Mac OS X, Windows Mobile 2003 for PocketPCs, WinCE.net and Symbian, and supports all popular browsers. The unique design of the SlipStream client/server model guarantees compatibility with 3G and 4G wireless networks. The base acceleration client is less then 1MB - the client for small form factor devices is even smaller, at less than 350 KB - which makes it very easy to download and operate on PDAs, Pocket PCs, Smartphones and hand-held computers.
