These were touted as the way consumers and businesses could surf the Web and send data at broadband speeds from anywhere a cell phone worked. After billions of dollars in investment and a decade of discussion, delay and disappointment, 3G networks have finally arrived in the U.S. Verizon Wireless has deployed wireless broadband networks in 30 cities, including Austin, Tex., and Milwaukee, Wis.
