Verizon: Upgrading or Replacing EVDO Cards or Phones |
| Thursday, 26 May 2005 | |
What do you do if:
The first step is to visit www.VerizonWireless.com and Register to get an account (click the Register button). You will need your bill, which has your account number (or your original contract). After registering, you will be able to login. Enter your UserName and PIN and click the Login button. After logging in, click Acct Maintenance and then Activate Phone. This will bring up this screen: ,br> ![]() Click on Activate Existing Equipment The next screen looks like the one below. On this screen, you will need to enter the Hex Number that is on the back of your EVDO Card. The Hex number is called your ESN and is made up of the letters A-F and 0-9. Enter it and click submit. ![]() Your next screen should look like this (except your phone number will be displayed). ![]() Wait 5-10 minutes and then select activate card in VZAccess or MCM. You have just successfully switched or replaced your EVDO Card with a new one (or replaced a defective or upgraded to a new card). BTW, the same steps apply to phones. You will only be able to make 2 ESN changes per day. If you are interested in upgrading your PC EVDO Card to a new one, keep in mind, that when you purchase a new contract and card, that Verizon is selling you a card below cost and making it up on the monthly fee. You will not be able to purchase a new card for the same price you got it at. You can look to eBay as a source of purchasing cards. For our testing at EVDOinfo.com / EVDOforums.com and Booster-Antenna.com, we recently purchased a Novatel v620 & Kyocera KPC650 on Ebay, so it does work. Discuss this topic on EVDOforums.com |
