MP2 Solutions selects the Sierra Wireless EM3420 to provide wireless connectivity for mobile point-of-sale device Sierra Wireless EM3420 embedded module connects the MRT300 rugged mobile point-of-sale terminal to CDMA 1X networks for real-time mobile inventory, payment, and delivery transactions Vancouver, British Columbia and Plano, Texas - June 13, 2005 - Sierra Wireless and MP2 Solutions today announced that MP2 Solutions has selected the Sierra Wireless EM3420 embedded module to provide wide area wireless connectivity to CDMA 1X networks for the MRT300 Mobile Retail Terminal. Customers using the MRT300 device can scan, authorize credit card payments, and check inventory wirelessly in real time via the EM3420 embedded module's wireless wide area network (WWAN) connection. Users can also print customer receipts and reports, making the product ideal for retail and service companies that need to conduct complete, secure, on-site or mobile payment transactions. The MRT300 is a rugged device that combines WWAN, WLAN, barcode scanner, printer and a magnetic stripe reader, running on Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system for Pocket PC. The extensive functionality of the MRT300 sets the device apart from traditional wireless terminals and PDAs - with a continuous battery life of 10 to 12 hours, customers using the device can check inventory, take payments, deliver goods, print receipts and send data back to headquarters.
