Mac OS X: Sharing EVDO

ImageMac OS X Tip - Sharing EVDO with other Airport/WIFI users

If you have a Sierra PC 5220 or Kyocera KPC650 card and Airport (802.11b/g) card installed in your PowerBook, you can EASILY share your EVDO connection with others Mac or PCs who have Airport/Wifi cards installed. Here is how.

- connect to EVDO
- System Prefernces-> Sharing -> Internet

Click Airport Options and enter a Network Name. Also, you can enable security here (so that someone requires a password to use your internet connection).

Here is the Verizon Wireless option showing up under Windows XP. Someone selecting it, entering the correct password, can now use the internet over their WIFI connection.

You can also use the Kyocera KR1 to share your connection.
