CradlePoint Makes Rover Puck by CLEAR
You see the Rover Puck by
CLEAR (SKU: CDP-PCK2005, UPC: 094922011183)? It is a pretty cool
looking new device that provides a mobile hotspot for CLEAR’s 4G
(WiMAX). We decided to take a look at the Rover Puck and see how
powerful this 4G only device is (No EVDO/3G on this device).
The interface of the Rover Puck is unlike any current CradlePoint Router (MBR1000, MBR1200, CTR350, CTR500, PHS300, CBA250, CBA750, etc.). What is even more interesting, is that on one of the screens in the Rover Puck is a link to how CradlePoint is using Open Source code for development. Clicking on Licenses shows the screen below and a link to: http://www.cradlepoint.com/opensource
So, there are a few questions that this brings. Is CradlePoint Moving To Open Source? All current versions of CradlePoint firmware are programmed in a closed/proprietary system. What does this mean for existing routers that CradlePoint is shipping? Join in on the discussion about CradlePoint and the Rover Puck on EVDOforums.com |
