iOS 5 Diagnostic & Usage Data Eats Battery and Bandwidth


In iOS 5 there is the option that allows any diagnostic info to be sent to Apple if there is an issue with your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.  By default this is turned on.  Some users are reporting that their iPhone (iPhone 4, iPhone4S, etc.) is sending tons of data even when they are not doing anything.  This can not only drain your battery, BUT also eat into you monthly bandwidth allotment.  The steps below will show you how to disable this feature. Keep in mind, that Apple may be collecting this data to help improve the next release of iOS5, so by disabling, you may not be helping.

Goto Settings -> About -> Diagnostics & Usage -> Change to Don't Send

If you want to see what kind of diagnostic info your iOS5 device has been collecting, click on "Diagnostic & Usage Data" and you will see:
