AT&T Service to let App Developers to pay for user data, so much for Network Neutrality



According to The Wall Street Journal AT&T is planning a service that will allow any app developer or content providers to pay the carrier for subscriber data usage. AT&T head of network and technology said "A feature that we're hoping to have out sometime next year is the equivalent of 800 numbers that would say, if you take this app, this app will come without any network usage." This idea would allow companies like Pandora, Spotify and Netflix to pay for the subscribers bandwidth so you wouldn't need to worry about data usage. Of course, network neutrality advocates may find this a bit troubling because smaller developers may not be able to afford purchasing bandwidth for their customers.
