iOS 5.1 Disable 3G Return
*** UPDATE *** AT&T pulled this feature from the final 5.1 release. It was present in the 5.1b3 release. It is present on other carriers. Guessing AT&T had it pulled becuase they decided to show 3G as a 4G icon and this option would have been even more confusing.
For
iPhone users who are live or travel in a non-3G area (only EDGE / 2G), a
battery killing feature is having your iPhone constantly scanning and
looking for 3G signal. Before 5.0, there was the option to Enable 3G or
Disable 3G, but starting with iOS 5.0, Apple removed that feature.
Well, Disabling 3G has returned to iOS 5.1 and for those in non-3G
areas, you can now gain a ton of battery life.
