Clearwire Usage up 705% year-over-yearClearwire is getting more popular for data hungry customers finding network usage increased 705 percent year-over-year in 2011. Clearwire Chief Financial Officer Hope Cochran said, some of the that increase came from new customers, but most is from existing subscribers using more data each month. "Customers are finding more applications and downloading more videos," she said. At this time they've got 16,000 WiMAX cell sites deployed, and about one-half of them carry 80 to 90 percent of all networking traffic. To help serve demand they plan to overlay their existing WiMAX infrastructure with 8,000 TD-LTE cell sites, the same technology Sprint has moved to. |
