Authorize.net a leading credit card processor for many merchants was down today (May 1, 2012) from around 12:30pm CST until 1:15pm CST). Authorize.net may not be up for all users, but is back up for many. There were two major issues. 1) Their servers appeared to be under a Denial of Service attack, as no credit card requests were being processed 2) Any attempt to connect to https://secure.authorize.net was answered with a "Error 503 - Server Not Responding". Many users on Twitter were reporting this issue (@AuthorizeNet). This appeared to be a 45 minute outage. For those that handle a lot of transactions, wonder how much money was lost during this outage. At 3Gstore.com, we have a backup processor that we can switch too and this didn't impact us like it could have many others. Did you have a problem, add your comments below. |
