AT&T Small Cell Tests later this yearAT&T plans to test "Small Cells" later this year, which help enhance network coverage inside and out. Executive Vice President John Donovan said if testing goes well the operator could use the equipment to improve in building or outdoor coverage by attaching a small cell somewhere outside the building. "Later this year and into next year we'll be piloting it." Donovan told Reuters during a technology panel at the CTIA annual wireless conference. The Small Cell concept sounds similar to a wireless repeater, however, it will likely require a high speed internet connection, which disqualifies a lot of businesses and customers living outside of Cable/DSL's reach. AT&T claims that Small Cell technology will help offset bandwidth hungry applications like video streaming. Related Links:
