C Spire LTE coming September 2012
According to Fierce Wireless C Spire will be officially launching their 4G LTE network in September and their first 4G device will be the Samsung Galaxy S III. "We're very pleased with both the download and upload speeds we've achieved in field testing," Eric Hollingsworth, C Spire's vice president of network operations, told the Madison County Journal. "Our field engineers are reporting data speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G on a consistent basis." They plan to launch 20 markets within Mississippi in September, which was original supposed to launch late last year. They plan to invest over $60 million into the deployment and cover a population of 1.2 million people. To provide the signal they’ll be using the AWS and PCS spectrum until they resolve some licensing issues within the 700Mhz band. C Spire has not announced the pricing on their LTE service, but we expect it to be similar to both Verizon and AT&T’s LTE pricing.
