Verizon Has Flipped The Band 4 Switch to 'ON'

Last month Verizon turned on its newly aquired Band 4 freqncies in New York, giving LTE users a major speed boost. Today, Verizon has quietly enabled Band 4 LTE in a few more major markets, including Chicago, Atlanta, Boston, Washington DC, and Seattle. What does this mean for Verizon users? Those who have a compatible device may experience a speed bump of up to 3 times what is currently available.

If you are the lucky owner of an iPhone 5s or 5c, Galaxy S4, Droid Maxx, or compatible USB modem or Hotspot, and live in one of these markets you can test out the speeds today!

From Verizon, "You could see 80 Mbps today and 20 Mbps tomorrow and then 10 Mbps the next day." Since this is in the early stages, speeds will vary as the network is optimized for its userbase.

Do you live in one of these markets? Run a speed test and post your results in the comments below!

What if you live in one of these markets and want to boost the signal of these new Verizon frequencies? Below are a number of amplifiers that are capable of picking up and boosting that signal.
