Facebook has close call to hacking scare

Facebook has seen its fair share of hacking scares over its 10 years of existence. Every few weeks, news of another 'attack' or 'hack' seem to circulate around the internet. Today is no exception. "Whois" is a ask and response tool that can be used to query databases that store the registered users of specific websites. Performing a "whois" lookup on this morning, has yeielded some very strange responses. Below is our finding as of 9:20am central time, on 2/6/14.

Whois has started…

Whois Server Version 2.0

Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to
for detailed information.

To single out one record, look it up with "xxx", where xxx is one of the
of the records displayed above. If the records are the same, look them up
with "=xxx" to receive a full display for each record.

At this point there is no information on who or what has caused this whois lookup to respond with obviously incorrect information. Facebook users should be cautious of any suspicious activity until we learn a little bit more about what is happening. What do you see when you do a lookup of your own? Paste your results in the comments below!
