August 25, 2005. Hurricane Katrina roared ashore and brought torrential rain, knocked off power to 1.3 million customers. A user on EVDO Forums, has reported:"It's 8:50 pm here in weston, florida 10 miles west of fort lauderdale. the eye wall is just south of me. i lost internet and power about 1 hr ago, just fired up my laptop and got connection with no problem and no speed issues this is one solid network.
Way to go Verizon...."
