OZOcar currently has 30 Toyota Priuses (hybrid car) and expects to have a total of 76 hybrids by mid-December. Their rates are competitive, around $60 fare from Manhattan to JFK. The environmentally friendly cars get 60MPG (regular Town Car gets 18MPG).

What really sets apart this limo company, is the technology that is available in each car. First of all, each car is equipped with Sirius satellite radios. Also, each car is equipped with high speed broadband from within the car. An on board iBook is available, OR use your own WiFi equipped laptop. For your convenience, plug in your laptop and keep the batteries charged while using your laptop - that way when you get to the airport, your battery is at full charge. The onboard broadband is available via WiFi within the car and is included in your fare (it is free). This allows your laptop (or the one provided) to access the internet at broadband speeds. Make that travel time productive, checking emails, check flight status, browsing and anything else on your laptop (even VPN). So, your travel time is now productive time.

Got busy checking emails and you look up and do not recognize your exact location? Look at the onboard iBook and it will show you an map of your exact location (updated every 60 seconds).

We actually know a lot about OZOcar and how they are doing it, because WE (the guys at EVDOinfo.com), created, built, programmed and host the OZOcar on board internet solutions. Each car is equipped with the following:

  • Verizon BroadbandAccess Data Card
  • Garmin GPS Receiver
  • Magnetic Mount Antenna for improved EVDO reception
  • Custom built EVDO Router. Off the shelf EVDO routers do not support GPS Integration

We host the dedicated server for OZOcar. When the web server in the car requests an update to the map, our server contacts the router in the car and communicates with the GPS receiver to get the exact location. Once we have this location, the data is integrated with Google Maps for a realtime display of the location. This whole process takes a few seconds. For support, we can remotely log in to any car (even while moving), so that we can perform upgrades, troubleshoot any problems and support the units remotely.

OZOcar uses the real-time mapping to show the exact location to the passenger, BUT it could also be used by someone in the main office to see an exact location, or perhaps a passenger looking to see how far away the vehicle is, the possibilities are end less.

If you are interested in adding this to your vehicles (buses, taxis, limos, trucks, or vans), please contact us and we would be happy to discuss it in more detail.
