Venturi Compression software can actually speed up your browsing experience (yes, even more). But at what cost, and is it worth it? Some people are charging $285+ to "SuperCharge" your EVDO card and allow you to get 2000kbps. Guess what? They are using Venturi to do this. This article will show you some real world examples of what this compression software does and how to download this software for free. Venturi Now Available For Mac OS X Using Venturi can skew benchmarking to look VERY GOOD. In fact, the benchmarks can make it seem that you are getting extremely high speeds, faster than is even possible. Please be sure to read our article on benchmarking. We downloaded a 4.2mb text file in 1xRTT with 3 bars of signal and compression off. It took 48 seconds. Next we enabled compression, same location, same signal strength. It took 45 seconds. So, compression did save us a little time! If you are downloading purely text files, you will see a much greater performance gain since text can compress smaller than images. NOTE: If you are using VPN, DO NOT USE VENTURI! It can cause your computer to crash.
