Windows XP & Mac OS X Tip - External EVDO Booster Antenna
The PC 5220 Card and Novatel V620 have the option of plugging in an external antenna. The antenna will pull in weak signals if you are on the border of coverage. Also, if you are within coverage, you will get a stronger signal and increase your download speeds.
The Booster Antenna comes with 2 attachable suction cups, so it can be installed to a windshield in a car.

EVDO Booster Antenna Facts:
- Many retailers sell the antenna separately from the cable, sometimes called a pigtail. So, if you see an antenna for $59, understand, you will have to spend another $22 on the pigtail.
- Why are some selling the Booster Antenna for $269? We don't know, that seems to be a very inflated price, and possibly taking advantage of people who don't know any better. UPDATE, the $269 price is now $179 - still a $100 more for the same antenna.
- The manufacturer states that when using a pigtail, you could lose up to .5db of signal.
- The manufacturer states that a cable length greater than 3 fee will cause signal loss.
- If you are currently in a EVDO fringe area and not getting EVDO coverage, a Booster Antenna could pull in the strong EVDO signal and give you a leap in performance
- Depending on your location, you could see a jump in speed up to 100%, however, the average may be more in the 20% - 50% range.
- The antenna is omni-directional, but we have found, if you aim it in different directions, you can usually find the direction of the tower and get a bit more performance
