VANCOUVER, March 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR - TSX: SW) today announced the introduction of the company's product line for EV-DO Revision A networks. The AirCard 595 wireless wide area network card and the MC5725 PCI Express Mini Card embedded module are designed to take advantage of the increased speed and functionality offered on the next-generation EV-DO networks, providing mobile professionals with faster file uploads and the capacity to support multimedia applications such as video streaming or Web conferencing.

"We believe that the benefits Revision A network technology will provide to our customers are a significant step toward the widespread adoption of wireless wide area network connectivity by mobile professionals," said Trent Punnett, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development for Sierra Wireless. "For that reason, Sierra Wireless is committed to leading the way in bringing EV-DO Revision A devices to market."

EV-DO Revision A is an upgrade to current EV-DO networks that supports faster data rates and increased system capacity, offering peak data rates of 3.1 Mbps on the downlink and up to 1.8 Mbps on the uplink. The faster data rates, particularly on the uplink, will improve the user experience for those who need to send large files such as photos or graphics to colleagues or clients over their wireless data connection.

The AirCard 595, a Type II PC card, is the latest addition to Sierra Wireless's award winning AirCard line of wireless wide area network cards for mobile computing. Scheduled for commercial shipment in the third quarter of 2006, the AirCard 595 will also be fully compatible with current EV-DO networks, as well as CDMA 1X networks, for use in areas where an EV-DO Rev. A network is not available.

Designed to provide an integrated EV-DO Revision A connection for AirCard Enabled(TM) notebook computers and other mobile computing devices, the MC5725 is the newest embedded module from Sierra Wireless, which has more than 10 years' experience in working with original equipment manufacturers to provide built-in wireless wide area network connectivity for a variety of devices and applications. Like the AirCard 595, the MC5725 will be backward compatible to provide seamless connections to current EV-DO and CDMA 1X networks.

Early models of the AirCard 595 and the MC5725 are available to infrastructure vendors, OEM customers, and network operators for testing and integration purposes.
