New Broadband VZW ExpressCard Novatel V640 along with the ExpressCard Adapter that enables an Express Card/34 to be used in a PCMCIA slot that supports the new CardBay interface (based off the PCMCIA specification Release 8.![]() With regards to the adaptor the laptop must use either Ti or O2 Micro Cardbus/Smart Cardbus controller (it will NOT work in laptops that use the Ricoh PC Card controller). Enables an ExpressCard/34 to be used in a CardBay supported PCMCIA slot (It will not work in legacy laptops that do not support the CardBay Interface) Expands the ExpressCard/34 Market beyond Express Card enabled laptops (one device across multiple platforms) For the latest compatiblity information, see the following thread on EVDOforums.com: ExpressCard to PC Card Adapter Success/Failure The ExpressCard Adapter (Part Number V640CARDADPTR) will sell for $29.99. A. Follow these instructions to find out what PC Card controller the laptop is using: 1. Go to: Start > My Computer > View System Information. 2. Select the Hardware Tab and click on Device Manager. 3. Expand the PCMCIA Adapters option. *If the listing for PCMCIA Adaptor displays Smart CardBus, your laptop is compatible with the ExpressCard Adapter. *If the listing for PCMCIA Adapter displays Cardbus only or Ricoh Cardbus your laptop is not compatible with the ExpressCard Adapter. NOTE: If you have difficulty finding this information please consult your notebook manufacturer. To Use the ExpressCard Adapter: 1. Insert the V640 ExpressCard, label facing up, through the ExpressCard Adapter opening, with Insert this Side facing up. DO NOT force the V640 ExpressCard into the ExpressCard Adapter. 2. Ensure that the V640 ExpressCard connects or locks with the connector pins on the adapter. 3. Properly insert into your laptop's PCMCIA slot, leading with the portion of the combination that states Insert this Side.
