iChat Audio works with 1xRTT |

So you read how iChat Video works over EVDO. Sometimes, you may only be in an 1xRTT coverage area. The coverage area for 1xRTT is more widely available. We wanted to see if we can have an iChat 2 way audio chat when in the slower 1xRTT (Verizon calls this NationalAccess). We tested numerous audio chats and never lost a packet or the quality was perfect. Here is the screen shot of iChat Audio as we spoke with the iChat audio user on the other end, who was in an 1xRTT area.  After talking for nearly 2 minutes, we had no packet lost and the conversation was crystal clear.  Even though this test was conducted mac to mac using iChat AV, it can be assumed that it will work with comparable programs and hardware on Windows. For example, AIM already supports audio and video on Windows. Although all this is possible, please see Verizon's Terms of Service for more information. |
