Verizon Leads in Subscribers for Wireless Market

Verizon is currently leading the wireless market with a total of just over 107 millions subscribers, which is an increase of about 6.6% from last year. Coming in second is AT&T with about 101 million subscribers representing a 7.8% increase over last year. Sprint is following in third place with 53.1 million subscribers and T-Mobile is bringing up the rear with 33.7 million subscribers. If the AT&T deal happens and they purchase T-Mobile, Verizon's lead would be short lived and AT&T would end up with around 134 million subscribers allowing them to take the wireless lead. Verizon's lead is likely due to the rapid deployment of their 4G LTE network available in over 170 markets, while providers like AT&T will only have 15 markets launched by the end of 2011.
