AT&T Adjusts Unlimited User Throttling

Earlier this week AT&T received some unwanted headlines after a customer successfully sued AT&T for throttling his unlimited data account. Today they've announced some changes in their throttling procedure and indicate that customers won't receive a throttling notification until hitting 3GB in a given month. This policy is more inline with their current tiered plans, which offer 3GB of data for $30/mo where unlimited customers were initially getting throttled after using 2GB, despite the fact they were also paying $30/mo. If you've upgraded to a newer 4G phone and still have unlimited data AT&T will offer these customers 5GB of data before throttling accounts. New customers that already pay for a tiered plan don't have to worry about being throttled, they'll just need to pay overage fees for going over the limit.
