Bug Detected with Google's Nest Home Protect Product

Google’s Nest Home Protect Product has been pulled after a bug causes it to turn off if someone WAVES at it. Nest will immediately disable the Wave feature over the net, and sales of the Nest Protect have been halted until a fix is implemented.

The fix, plus regulatory approvals, could take two to three months to complete. Until the feature has been corrected, users can tap on the center button on the unit to silence alarms. On the plus side, because the device has built-in software and connects to the net, it can be updated remotely to fix software-related issues.

Customers without WiFi-connected devices should either disable it or return it for a full refund; the company added customers have until September 30, 2014 to get a refund.
