Sierra Wireless: Valuable M2M Solutions for Every Business

With a lot of router manufacturers changing their firmware and support policies recently, customers looking for an embedded solution should seriously weigh their options. If you’re trying to find a reliable solution to your application needs without breaking the bank, we suggest checking out our products from Sierra Wireless (see comparison chart below).

Some router manufacturers are starting to charge their customers to get firmware updates for their routers. Depending on the manufacturer, it may not matter whether you’re a new customer or someone who’s had their router for several months. They may also charge you for technical support, should you need it.

Sierra Wireless however, does not charge anything for firmware upgrades or technical support. As of right now, any user, at any point in time may upgrade their router’s firmware AND have unlimited technical support from the manufacturer (that is IF there's something our support team cannot resolve). Plus, rather than a standard 1 year warranty that you get with most products, Sierra provides a 3 year warranty on their LS300 and ES440 routers. The GX440 routers include a 5 year standard warranty. What about a cloud service to manage my routers? Don’t sweat it, Sierra offers their AirVantage Management Service (AVMS) for an affordable $18 per year.

With embedded routers starting at $500 and up, it’s important to consider all the possible costs involved. Total costs can rise quite quickly depending on your needs. Plus, not all embedded routers are alike. The Sierra Wireless products off additional features such as serial connectivity for out of band management (e.g. for controllers, firewalls, etc), which provide an additional way to communicate and manage the routers.

So, if you’re searching for the most cost effective embedded solution, check out our Sierra Wireless products today!
