Verizon Introduces TravelPass for International Travel

If you're a Verizon Wireless subscriber, traveling internationally just got a little easier. Verizon has announced their TravelPass program, which allows users to use their phone or other device in 65+ countries at the full speed of Verizon's local roaming partner at the location. It costs just $2 per device per 24 hours in Canada and Mexico or $10 in 65 other countries. Of course, only devices that are global-capable will work internationally, and you must have a qualifying plan. Grandfathered unlimited plans do NOT qualify, unfortunately - if you want to use any international services you'll have to switch to a current plan first.

Activating TravelPass is easy: you can simply make the change in your account online or in the app, and there's no charge to turn it on. When you arrive in a partner country, you'll receive a text message reminding you of the service, but there's still no charge until you actually make a phone call, send a text, or use data in some way - at that point the $2 or $10 charge will take place and your 24 hours will begin. You can use as many minutes, data, and texts as your plan supports. Ocassional travelers will likely love TravelPass as it elminates the need to source local short term pre-paid options everywhere you go!
